We are in the midst of a full-on election fever here in the United States.
Our airwaves and internets are awash in political advertisements that run the gamut from subtle innuendo to outrageous accusation.
For too long, these political weapons of mass destruction have been reserved for the Washington elite. What’s a Joe Six-Pack or a Hockey Mom to do?
This inequality is downright un-American and it will not stand. My fellow prisoners, we give you the Attack Ad Generator.
Now slandering the other side is as easy as goofing around with those refrigerator poetry magnets. Actually, it’s even better than that since you can’t embed your refrigerator on your blog. Witness:
The time has come to go on the attack! Make your own Attack Ad now!
i think this is my new favorite site
I made an ad but it won’t play!
@chad: Sorry to hear that… Unfortunately, I still have some browser-specific bugs to work out.
If you have a chance, could you let me know what browser and operating system you were using?
I really appreciate the accomplished hard work. I will talk about in our site.
Hi Mike,
I can’t seem to get the ads to play either. I’m using firefox 3 on Linux, I have flash block installed but not sure if your even using flash…
You can give me an email you need some test monkeys…
i think i love you guys.
Wow there are some great things in this I’d love to know how you implemented. I’m a Rails developer and this has brought Merb and Sequel to my attention. Any chance after the election you could drop the source on GitHub for others to learn from?
[...] Obama o McCain: l’arma da brandire con la dovuta ironia è Attack Ad Generator. Sviluppato da Mike Demers, consente di comporre un video e di farlo supportare dal candidato alla presidenza degli Stati [...]
Thanks for the kind words, I’m glad you’re all enjoying it.
@John: Yes, it’s using Flash to play the audio so you’re probably correct about Flash Block being the culprit. Thanks for the testing offer - unfortunately I haven’t had time to work on the generator since it took off in popularity late last week. If people are still finding it amusing post-election, I’ll roll out some fixes and new features.
@Chess: I’m planning on putting together a tutorial or two based on what I’ve learned while building the app. Check back in the next week or so for that.
